Michael Montgomery is a California-based reporter and audio producer with the Center for Investigative Reporting and its popular podcast Reveal. As a Balkans correspondent for the Daily Telegraph, he covered the fall of communism, rise of Serbian nationalism and wars Bosnia and Croatia. His subsequent reporting on human rights violations in Kosovo led to war crimes convictions of Serbian and Albanian paramilitaries. At Reveal, Montgomery specializes in narrative investigations on topics ranging from forced labor in U.S.-bound supply chains to solitary confinement and the global rise of autonomous weapons systems. His honors include Peabody, duPont, IRE, and Overseas Press Club awards. He is a longtime member of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists and serves on the board of the World Press Institute.
